Praised by the New York Times for its »excellence, poise and precision«, the Meitar Ensemble has established itself as one of the leading international ensembles for contemporary music. Founded in Tel Aviv in 2004, the ensemble has performed at numerous renowned festivals, including the Ultraschall Festival in Berlin, the Brighton Festival, and the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Music. The ensemble has been honored for its important contribution to Israeli culture and music with the Binyaminy Award (2006), the Partosh Award (2008) and the Landau Award (2010). Over the past two decades, the ensemble has commissioned and premiered more than 400 new works. Since 2017, the Meitar Ensemble has served as the artistic director of Tedarim, a master’s program for contemporary music at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
