Rojin Sharafi’s live set »O.O.Orifice« is based on her fourth album. The work explores the space of ‘in-between’, the moment of rupture, the distance ‘before’ and ‘after’ in the wake of a life-altering event. It is in this moment of rupture that a new space emerges: an in-between space that disrupts the unity of order. A space with an origin all its own – neither inside nor outside, neither full nor empty. It remains nameless until it is discovered and named. It creates coordinates that challenge perception, and this is what the work strives to do. »O.O.Orifice« follows a narrative thread that allows different stories to unfold, each reflecting facets of this rupture. Analog synthesizers, microtonal acoustic and digital instruments, scattered rhythms, and poetry converge to form a narrative about love and attraction, psychoanalysis, internalized shame, the complexities of language, loss of homeland, and rejection. And what binds these stories together is the orifice – the space in between, the threshold, a passageway that symbolizes both pain and a channel that leads into the depths, to the realm that lies beyond the pain.

Rojin Sharafi is a Tehran-born, Vienna-based sound artist, performer, and composer. Her distinctive musical language intertwines acoustic elements with electronic textures and vice versa, creating a synthesis of resilient yet vulnerable sonic expressions. In her solo performances, she explores sound textures at the intersection of folk and futurism, using a mix of analog, acoustic, and extended instruments alongside custom-designed digital tools. Sharafi studied composition and sound engineering at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw). Her live sets have been showcased at festivals and venues worldwide, from London to Riga, and from Budapest to New York.
