Anna Clementi first studied flute and acting in Rome before specializing in experimental vocal music and music theater at the Hochschule der Künste (now Berlin University of the Arts), where she worked with composer Dieter Schnebel. This encounter led to a long-term collaboration, during which she was an active member of »Die Maulwerker«, the ensemble founded by Schnebel. Anna Clementi sees herself as an »actress of the voice« rather than exclusively a singer. This reflects the diversity of her artistic expression, through which she continuously explores new connections between voice, gesture, language, dance and theater. A special focus of her work is the music of John Cage. Anna Clementi has performed at major international festivals and premiered numerous works, many of which were composed especially for her and developed in close collaboration with the composers.
