ensemble mosaik – founded in Berlin in 1997 – is known for its fearless ventures into musical and cross-disciplinary experimentation, creating laboratory-like environments in which artistic research can flourish. Through the multifaceted interplay of instrumental, performative and electronic forms of expression across diverse performance contexts, the ensemble has developed a distinctive performance practice that has become a point of reference for many younger ensembles and composers. Firmly established within the international contemporary music scene, the ensemble regularly appears at major festivals worldwide. Founded as a collectively run ensemble, ensemble mosaik has developed its unique profile over many years of intensive collaboration, with numerous members having been part of the group for more than 15 years.
