»NATURE:SOUND:SPACES« is a collaborative work by the ensemble LUX:NM that oscillates between improvisation and composition. In this collectively developed piece, each musician engages individually with the sonic landscapes of natural environments, weaving the diverse acoustic facets of nature into the fabric of an urban context.
The performance at ZK/U Berlin merges live performance with pre-produced audio material and field recordings, blending organic and artificial sounds into an immersive, spatial soundscape. The work not only documents nature within the city but also transforms and expands it through sound.
NATURE:SOUND:SPACES offers a new way of experiencing nature in urban environments – as a dynamic structure of acoustic layers, improvisational freedom, and site-specific resonance. The audience is invited to become part of a constantly evolving sonic space, where nature and artistic expression enter into a rich, multidimensional dialogue.
Founded in 2010 by Ruth Velten and Silke Lange, the ensemble LUX:NM brings together a group of soloists dedicated to creating self-directed and versatile chamber music programs with a sonically flexible instrumentation. LUX:NM sees itself as both initiator and developer of new musical concepts. The ensemble’s members compose, improvise, interpret, and curate – they create their own dramaturgical frameworks and scenic ideas. This artistic and creative approach is at the heart of the collective spirit that defines LUX:NM. The intensive ensemble collaboration enables the development of exceptional new projects, where interdisciplinary formats and intercultural perspectives are naturally integrated. LUX:NM regularly performs at renowned international concert venues and festivals. In 2021, the ensemble released an album of their acclaimed production DARK LUX in the radio play version in cooperation with Deutschlandfunk/DLF Cologne.
