»What Remains After Desire« is a short EP that forms the seed of Marie Delprat’s next full-length album, to be released in winter 2026. It reflects on what remains once intensity fades: the calm after longing, the quiet spaces where fragility and tenderness transform into strength. The pieces are built around literary fragments and poetic reflections by writers such as Ariana Reines, Éric Fiat, and Kae Tempest. Their words open up different perspectives on fatigue, intimacy and exposure, where care and vulnerability become acts of resilience. Musically, the work moves between intimacy and abstraction, blending layered voices, minimal rhythms and detailed electronic textures. Baroque music and its relationship to pop serve as inspiration: Baroque arias were the pop songs of their time: direct, emotional and designed to move listeners. The way composers shaped melodic lines and placed the voice resembles the structure of a contemporary song. Both worlds share a tension between emotion and form, between repetition and ornamentation. The EP grows from that dialogue, translating the emotional clarity of early music into a contemporary electronic language where softness carries its own intensity.

Marie Delprat is a musician and performer working at the intersection of sound art and live performance. She combines digital and analog approaches, with a particular interest in the interplay between electronic music and early music. Following her training in recorder and early music at the Centre de musique baroque de Versailles in France and her studies at the Bern Academy of the Arts (HKB) in Switzerland, her focus gradually shifted toward improvisation, composition and performance. In her work, she explores questions of identity and perception. Since 2023, she has been an associated artist at Dampfzentrale Bern. In 2020, she received the Coup de cœur Prize of the Canton of Bern, and in 2025 she was selected for the SHAPE+ platform.
