PHØNIX16 is a paradox: it is a collective of individuals who explore the phenomenon of the voice as a primary instrument, but also as the basis for social, political, and cultural forms of expression, and as a means of communication. PHØNIX16 draws on extensive research and realizes its performances in a variety of formats, including experimental films, installations, and happenings. The collective welcomes diverse influences, ranging from folk to electronic and contemporary music to death metal. In this way, our accustomed manner of listening is constantly challenged and broadened. The ensemble of soloists was founded in Berlin in 2012.
